P-VE 03: Creative Pedagogies and Approaches in Teaching Values
The course provides a comprehensive overview of evidence based strategies and approaches for planning, implementing, managing and assessing effective learning experiences for Values Education students with emphasis on the relationship of educational theory and the development of practical teaching techniques and strategies for teaching. Students are expected to acquire knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to teach Values Education effectively in elementary and secondary level.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the importance of selecting appropriate teaching approaches, strategies and techniques for values development. 2. Differentiate and explicate the major approaches in Values Education. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the major approaches. 3. Select teaching strategies appropriate for values development. 4. Exhibit an understanding of the confluent and andragogical theory. Identify the best features of confluent theory and andragogical approach in teaching values. 5. Demonstrate the ability to identify the different phases of the lesson plan. 6. Construct a repertoire of lesson plans and modules for EsP/VE lessons. 7. Demonstrate competencies in facilitating and directing values learning. 8. Present evidence of work and accomplishments thru online portfolio.
